Joy

At Christian Life Assembly, we’ve just completed a two part series on the Fruits of the Spirit. This past Sunday, Pastor Wayde asked that each of us take a look at the fruits to see which one (or ones) we needed more of in our lives. Joy jumped out at me right away. I want more joy in my life so I began to look closely at the Word of God to see what it says about this thing called joy.

Today I read from John 15. In this passage, Jesus says, If you keep my commands, you'll remain intimately at home in my love. That's what I've done—kept my Father's commands and made myself at home in his love. I've told you these things for a purpose: that my joy might be your joy, and your joy wholly mature. This is my command: Love one another the way I loved you.

What's my interpretation of this verse? When I love others the way that Christ loves me, I’ll be intimately at home in His love and His joy will be my joy – wholly mature joy.

That’s what I’m after – wholly mature joy!
